Dear S.E Clark - My dad is the REAL geneologiest in the family. He can be reached at emanuelg@hiwaay.net The info he has researched and published states that Jacob Emanuel came to America from Europe in the early 1800's. We have no info on his parents...yet. It is believed that Jacob came to Virginia from Germany -- supposedly from the Alsace-Lorraine region. He apparently lived in Virginia for a number of years. There he married Mary Kimball. Her family was of German descent. A son Jonas was born in Harin County Virginia on 15 April 1818. Virginia was not divided into a WEST Virginia until 1863. This info was acquired by researcher Ruth Emanuel from the Bureau of Vital Statistics, Richmond, Virginia. Jacob & Mary moved to Union township, Fayette County, Ohio in 1819 or early 1820. Jacob was on the Tax role in Hardin County (W)Virginia in 1810 and in the 1820 Fayette County, Ohio Census. Both Mary AND Jacob died in Fayette Co., Ohio in 1829. We have no knowledge or records concerning their deaths. The orphans went to live with relatives like Hiram or were "adopted" by families who could afford them...like Jonas going to live with the Dr. Elbridge family. Jacob & Mary's children were: Aaron (1809/10 - 1858) Hiram H. (1797/98 - 1850) Mary Joseph? Jacob E. (1807-1850) Rosanna Christiana Jonas (1818 - 1891) Rachael Girl? Like I said earlier, my dad has most of the info on all this.
