Hi, Elizabeth,

You are going to love this: I am working on Joseph ENDSLEYs as I write these mails to you!
Abraham was my 3-greatgrandfather, and Peter was my 2-greatgrandfather. Yes, I see that Joseph did stay with 2 of Peter's sons: Eli in 1870 and William in 1880. In 1850, he MAY be the 9 year-old Joseph E ENSLEY in the home of Joshua COLE, wife Sarah & son Lewis in Huntington Co., Indiana. A Joshua COLE and a Sarah GOTCHEL were married in Wayne, Co., Indiana in 1837, but I can see no other connection with the ENDSLEYs there.

In several postings on Rootsweb, Dick Wood says that Joseph T.'s death certificate says his father was "Joseph". Since this is also "my" family, I would love having a copy of that note you mention, naming Abraham as Joseph T's grandfather!!! Would you be willing to photocopy it and send it to me or scan it and e-mail it? I will pay for copy costs and postage to here in France!

I have another theory. I wonder if Joseph T. was a son (or even a grandson) of Hugh ENDSLEY or even of Samuel ENDSLEY, both brothers of Abraham? The names of all their children remain elusive, as do their migrations. Of course, Josiah ENDSLEY married Susan Edwards in 1838 and then married Hester Wasson in 1844, so Joseph could be a child of that first marriage.

Well, it's late here, so I've also sent this to you directly. Cheers, Jim
