I have found census references to Jacob Engelman in 1741 in Philadelphia, In Lehigh County in both the 1820 and 1840 census, and in Philadelphia County in 1840. Possible father and son?

A Jacob and Catherine Engelman had a child baptised in the Salem Lutheran and Reformed Congregation, Moortownship, Northampton County, PA, in 1808.

I found a reference for a Jacob Engelman born about 1756 in Limeport, Lower Milford Township, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. Father given as Andreas Engelman, born about 1722 in Germany. this Jacob is likely the one mentioned in the above reference to Lehigh County. No obvious connection to your Jacob, other than Pennsylvania, but the age would be right for this Jacob to be the father of the one you are looking for.

I am looking for ancestry of John Engleman, and believe his father may have been Daniel W. Ingleman/Engleman, who lived in Philadelhia in the 1820's and 30's. Perhaps there is a connection.

Linda
