Hello To Any Enochs Family Member of Ranger,Lincoln County, West Virginia:

Seeking information regarding family of Sam Enochs (born in Wayne County, WV) and wife Cora Webb (born in Lincoln County)- This information is per State of West Virginia death certificate #12188 for their child "Ward Enochs (11-14-1922/9/9/1923)", burial site "Enochs Cemetery" near Ranger, Lincoln County, West Virginia. Name & address of undertaker (acting) on death certificate is "Richard Enochs, Wewanta, West Virginia" (the "Wewanta,WV" post office was closed years ago and was near the Ranger/Kiahsville, WV, area). Informant's name on this death certificate shown as "Malinda Queen, Ranger, West Virginia", Malinda appearing to have been married to Lewis C. Queen. It appears that Lewis C. Queen, Hattie Queen (1910-1929, and an infant child [Hattie and "infant child" being children of Lewis C. & Malinda (Enochs) Queen], are buried in our family cemetery, the Queen's Ridge Cemetery, located near both the Wayne and Lincoln County line, near Harts, Lincoln County, West Virginia.

On the State of West Virginia death certificate #2003 for "Squire Webb (512-1880/1/5/1932)", his parents' names are shown as "James Webb and "Bell Southerns" (mother's maiden name). Informant's name/address is shown as "Alpha Webb", Ranger, West Virginia; undertaker (acting) as Jim Fulks, Rnager, West Virginia, and place of burial "Adkins Cemetery".

On the State of West Virginia death certificate #17668 for "Bellgoria/Bellezoria Webb" (8-8-1848/12-11-1937), she is shown as being age 89 and a widow at time of death, her place of birth as Ohio, and her parents' names are shown as "Williams Southern", born in Indiana, and "Bellegoria Southerds", born in Ohio, and her place of burial as "Adkins Cemetery", informant's name "Miss Bertie Webb, Ranger, West Virginia, and name/address of funeral director as "S. L. Koontz, Hamlin, West Virginia".

I do not have a death certificate for "Infant Queen".

Per State of West Virginia death certificate #2642 for "Hattie Queen (9-22-1910/2-26-1929)", parents' names are shown as "Lewis Queen, born in Wayne County, West Virginia" and "Melinda Enochs (mother's maiden name), born in Lincoln County, West Virginia"; name/address of informant shown as "Donnie/Darvie" Adkins, 1622 13th Avenue (presumed to be a Huntington, WV, address); and name of undertake ___.__. (cannot clearly determine initials) Kincaid.

Per State of West Virginia death certificate #5279 for "Lewis Queen (2-14-1884/4-20-1923)", he was married, was a coal miner, place of death was Kessler-Hatfield Hospital, Huntington, WV, and he was the son of "Stephen Queen" and "Mary Counts" (mother's maiden name). Name and address of informant WAS "W. S. Enochs, Ranger, West Virginia", and name/address of funeral director was "J. E. Johnston, Huntington, West Virginia

We are planning to have the Queen's Ridge Cemetery placed on the National Register of Historic Places and thought this information may be of interest to an Enochs family member. To date, we have not been able to learn if Malinda (Enochs) Queen was buried at Queen's Ridge Cemetery (she may have re-married and be buried in a different location).

Please feel free to contact me should you have further information regarding these family members/names.

Della Lilly
