My great grandfather is Joseph F. Enos SR., and his son, my grandfather, is Joseph Francis Enos Jr. I am curious about this thread regarding Joseph S. Enos Jr. (1900). It seems very odd that both my great grandfather and my grandfather have nearly the same names and that my grandfather was born 1899, one year difference from Joseph S. Enos. Another thing is that my great grandfather was reported to have come from the Azores to America (I assume to Massachusetts first). Great grandfather, Joseph F. Enos was also reported to have been lost to a Nor-Easter storm while on a fishing boat. How my grandfather Joseph Jr. came to live and eventually die in Livermore, California, I have no clue.

I have my grandfathers death certificate, Joseph Jr., which states he was born 4-10-1899 in Massachusetts. He lived out his life in California and was an Engineer for Local #3 Sacramento. He died, Aug. 16, 1963, at the VA hospital in Livermore, CA., and was buried in Golden Gate National Cem. on Aug. 20, 1963. He had two children, Jack and Jean, I think they were born in El Monte, Ca.

My greatest problem with finding information about my grandfather has been trying to make the connection back to the Azores, and how and when and where to America they came. When they moved out from Massachusetts to California.

I question: is it possible that the little old Portuguese woman meant Joseph F. instead of Joseph S. when she gave you what she remembered?

Thanks, Chris Enos
