Hello Claire,
Just happened onto your message. We may not connect but here is what I have on my first wife's Enright ancestors: Michael Enright, born ca. 1824 (age 36 in 1860 census for Kings County, Brooklyn Ward 6, District 3, roll 876, page 31), a labourer born in Ireland married Mary Hartford, born cxa. 1827 (33 in same census) born Ireland with children: Margaret, born ca. 1856 (age 4 in 1860) born in England; Michael, born ca. 1855 (age 5 in 1860)born N.Y.; Elen (sic actually Eileen Matilda b. 28 June 1857 Brooklyn, Queens County, N.Y. m. 12 April 1876 in Brooklyn Anthony Nicholas Anderson, b. 3 September 1855 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, son of Frederick Joseph Anderson and Rosanna Peterson, natives of Denmark and Norway respectively) (age 3 in census) born N.Y.(on census); Thomas 3 mos. at census of 1860 born N.Y.
It would appear from your description that the above Michael b. ca. 1824 would be too old for a sibling of yours, but who knows? Any further thoughts or suggestions for follow up? I've no idea where Michael came from in Ireland.
