You may have this already since your message is six years old.

Evidence points to all of the North Carolina branch descending from Edward Enroughty and his wife Edith. In the early 1760s he moved to Lunenburg Co., VA, and later to Halifax Co., VA, where he died (will proved 18 Jul 1776).

Their son John moved to Montgomery co., NC, some time before 1784, and probably before 1782 since he does not appear in the personal property tax list in Halifax co., VA, that year.

I have done no research on the NC branch.
