ENTLERs of Baltimore
I am interested in determining the parents of Philip ENTLER (Dec 1775-abt 28 July 1846) who was married to Salome (UNKNOWN) (d.abt 11 Jan 1849).Philip & Salome were in Baltimore by 1802 and had at least 10 children - Maria, Elizabeth, Catherine, Mary Anne or Marianne (m. Alonzo LILLY), Lydia, Johannes, Rebecca (m. John RODENMAYER), Salome (m. James P. DeLACOUR), Julianna, & Amelia (2nd wife of John RODENMAYER).I BELIEVE that Philip was probably a son of Jacob ENDLER of York, PA, the son of Philip Adam ENDLER, frequently referred to in this forum, but have no proof. While a number of Jacob's children were christened at Christ's Lutheran Church in York, there was no mention of a Philip although there was a "gap" in the christenings between Elizabeth in Oct 1774 & Elizabeth in 1777, where Philip could have fit.Jacob had children with the names of Elizabeth, Catherine, Marianne, Lydia, Rebekah, & Johannes, as did our Philip.Jacob also had a son named Joseph Washington born in 1800, 4 years before Jacob died, & a Joseph W. ENTLER was married in Philip's church in Baltimore in 1822.Also the weddings of 2 of Philip's daughters were reported in the York Co. newspapers and Philip's obituary, referring to him as from York Co., was carried in at least 2 York Co. newspapers. The 1790 Census showed 2 ENTLER households in York Co. - one with head of household Philip, consisting of him & a woman, and one of Jacob which had a second male of 16 or older (possibly our Philip?) and several females.By 1790 the rest of the ENDLER/ENTLERs had moved away, principally to Shepherdstown, VA (WV now). Can anyone help me to confirm the parentage of Philip ENTLER?
