That's a different branch of the Yerkes family.George Yerkes was the son of William Yerkes, eldest child of Joseph Yerkes by his wife Mary Purdy.
William was born in Moreland, Montgomery Co, PA and in childhood followed his parents to Romulus NY.He remained here until he went with his cousin Thomas Pinkerton through Canada to Farmington Michigan.William selected sections of land and went back to NY where he and his father Joseph Yerkes and his wife Hester Dennis all moved to Michigan.
William and Hester (Dennis) Yerkes had the following children:

Theodore Yerkes b. and d. 1831
Charles Yerkes 1833 m. Evelina Wells
Stephen Yerkes 1835-1881 m. Nellie Dunham d. without issue
George Yerkes 1838 m. Jane Entriken
Harrison Yerkes 1841-1899 m. Katherine Palmer d. without issue.
George Yerkes 19 April 1838 m. 28 Nov 1866 Jane Entrican b. 4 Jan. 1845 d. 30 Nov. 1891; daughter of David Entrican by his wife Celia Law.Issue: Jessie May Yerkes, b. 11 July and died Oct 1872.
