Hi! I'm very new at this but what I find of Jacob [born in 1797 in Alsace, France (I was always told)] & Mary Erb [born in 1817 in Ohio but whose parents on the census are listed as having been born in Pennsylvania - my best guess then is Western PA] is that they had two children living nearby in 1880 at census time. They had a son, Elisha, who was born in Indiana in 1861 who was a farmer in Lagrange, and they had a daughter, Eta, who was my great-grandmother, born in 1858. Eta had just recently married my great-grandfather, Jerome Bonaparte Rinehart, who was born in 1851 in Pennsylvania. I know the Rinehart limb left Indiana between 1880 and 1890 because my grandfather and his sister were both born in Coons Rapid, Iowa. In 1880 Jacob was aleady quite elderly (83). I believe that some family remains in the Coons Rapid area of Iowa although sometime between 1890 when my grandfather (Jay Don Rinehart) was born and the 19-teens Jerome & Eta had moved with Jay and Dorothy (my Auntie Dot who became a physician in Fairfield, CA) to Georgia and then west to Pasadena, CA. I know that my grandparents married in October 1920 and that Eta had passed away before they met but I believe after the family's arrival in Pasadena. I don't know if this is of any use to you or not. I know very little about my Rinehart family history which is why I decided to take a look at the little tidbits I do know.
