Christian or John Ernst (Hazleton, PA) ~1864
Posted by: chad garber (ID *****7451) Date: May 29, 2002 at 19:40:52
  of 998

I am looking for any information on Christian Ernst married to Adeline or Susan Belford. Christian Ernst came to America from Germany and was sworn in as a citizen on 7 January 1867, in the Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania Court House. Prior to that he was a private in Company E, 96th Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry. He was wounded in action 10 May 1864 in the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House, Virginia.

Also listed in the 96th Regiment, Company E muster roll is Private John Ernst thought to be a brother.

Christian had eight children:
1. George William
2. Peter A.
3. Clara May
4. Frances Dora
5. John C.
6. Ellen (Ellie)
7. Louisa
8. Abraham E.

Any help with information on Christian, his wife, John (brother?), and their parents would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chad Garber
