I am looking for descendants of John & Caroline Ernst. Both were born in Mecklenburg. John was born in 1833 & Caroline in 1837. They came to the US in 1855 (according to the census). They were also married about 1855, not sure if in New York or Germany. 1900 census says they had 10 children with 6 surviving.
1. Mina Ernst, born about 1857
2. Louisa Ernst , born about 1859
3. Ella Ernst, born about 1861
4. Charles Ernst, born about 1862 (possibly married a Helen?)
5. Ludwig Ernst (later called Louis), born about 1864. Married Fredericka. They had at least 3 children; Earl, Howard R & Sherman F.
6. Emma Ernst, born about 1866. Married Fred Malchow. Emma died May 26, 1903.
7. Fredriech (Fred) Ernst, born about 1868.
8. Lena Ernst , born about 1869. Married John Schoen. They had at least 2 children; Irvin (or Irwin) and A. Mabel. John Schoen's occupation was manager of Coal & Produce.
9. Josephine Ernst, born about 1875.
10. ???
This Ernst family were mostly farmers in the Menford and Pittsford area.
