wheb we started to do the original homestead maps on Cedar Point we could not find much to start with. I located a web site on BLM that listed the original homesteds on both the Utah and Colo sides of Cedar Point. I was born on the south end of the Point near where the Utah line and the Colo line hit the canyon. I'll have to dig up the maps that we made up showing the original homesteaders and the ones who came in later years. It surprised me that many of the ones who were there when I was a kid out there were not from the original homesteaders. I knew Harold (Buck) and Hela Mae (Helen) and Minnie and Lloyd when I lived on Cedar Point and also when I lived in Dove Creek. I also knew Dixie and Ronnie and Rick and Mike too they were younger than me though. I live outside of Durango now and see Eli Romero and Calvin and Eric fairly often. When we were doing the charts we tried to find out where the homesteaders were from to start with. My dad was born in Ohio but grew up in eastern Colorado. The Carter's Bill and Al and Jesse and Tede and Henry and sister Elsie Carter Moon, were all from Texas. Funk's from Arkansas. and so on. But I never got over to Dovecreek to talk to Minnie to find out Where Lloyd originally came from. I will look up the maps we made and email you a copy when i get a chance.
