I have been slowly gaining information on these folks! I show my first (earliest) Valentine Ertel 1850-1944 was married to Anna Maria Zoller. Their children are: Elizabeth Ann Ertel 1869-?, Barbara Ertel, Conrad Ertel 1867-?, Valentine Ertel, Anna Ertel. The Ertels and Zollers and Henrich (Hendricks) families originate from Germany-specifically Nueburg am Rhine. It appears that a fairly large number of families came to the US from this part of Germany in the 1850s or so and moved to South Williamsport Pennsylvannia. I don't have info as to why PA, but I understand that the farmland in Nueburg (near Karlsruhle)was not large enough to support all the families. I will let you know if I come across anything of interest!
