HiGary, my name is Chester M. Ertel a descendant of Valentine(1)and Sophia (Mohr)Ertel. York County Deeds prior to 1850 show Sophia Ertel of Harrision County Kentucky, widow, a daughter of Philip Henry Mohr, late of Dover Township,York County, Pennsylvania, gives a power of attorney to her son, Valentine Ertel of Centre County, Penn. on November 14, 1807(#L-415) to collect any debts due her in York County. Valentine(1) and Sophia had three sons Valentine(2), Daniel(my line),and Philip. Evidently, Philip, took his mother to Kentucky (Bracken County) because she gave Philip Ertel of the same place power of attorney in July 2, 1798 (#I-522). I hope this "fits" for you. Do you have any information on the daniel who left Ohio and came to Indiana.
