The town sits about 1-2 hours almost directly east of Madrid next to a river. Cousin who visited the town in 92 said that the records for the town are mostly kept in Guadalajara. There is a church and the crest has a castle in the middle with a swan on either side - facing the castle. Don't know the colors, but the swans are white. Told the Escamilla's were artist and entertainers and most of them left the town and few ESCAMILLAs remain. There was an artist named "Luis Tristan de Escamilla" who painted abt. 1430 - a religious type picture. Sure wish I could track family that far back. I'm stuck on Faustino Escamilla. Based on son's (Juan) birth certificate -- Faustino may have be born abt 1852 --- the "where" is eluding me. So far - it could be Mexico, New Mexico, Monterrey Mexico, in the Valley in Texas. Would love to find kin out there somewhere. Norine
