Not sure if my Esch ancestors fit into anyone elses tree but I will share what I have found. My great-great grandmother was Katherina Esch, who in 1846 at the age of 23 married my great-great grandfather, Jakob Arth. Her father was Bartholomaus Esch, who at the time of the marriage was 53 years old, a baker by trade. Her mother was Maria Margaretha Koch who was 51 years old at the time of the marriage. This information comes from a document written in 1857 (probably done as they prepared to come to the U.S.A.) by the 'mayor'/magistrate of Prum of the judicial area of Trier, William Heinrich Eskens.
At a later date, in October 1864 after the death of Jakob Arth, Katharina filed for a Widow's Army Pension. On the official "Declaration" (bearing the seal of the Supreme Court, State of Minnesota) one of the witnesses was a Michael Esch.
If anyone has connecting information I would like to hear about it.
Good cheer, Janet Arth
