Esch family in Missouri? or ??????

My husband's great great grandmother was Paulina J. Hostetter (she may have been born in 1819) who married James Hayden Truitt and gave birth to Harrison Truitt.

After placing the name, Paulina Hostetter in the google search, I located a Paulina Esch Hostetter in the birth records of Missouri for 1883. This Paulina was married to George Hostetter. She gave birth to a boy in 1883 which was her 3rd child. No name was listed in the records for the child.

I am trying to figure out if the Paulina Esch Hostetter is related to my husband's line.

Has anyone heard of these women in their research?

Can anyone tell me the heritage and background of the Esch name? I have never heard of it before and was very surprised to learn of it.

Thank you for any information you can give me on either question.......
