My line is from Croettwiller, Alsace, but they came to Canada in 1840. I do have the earlier Eschs back to 1730 that stay in Alsace so your Bernhard Esch could be a descendant of one of them. But I do not have one listed as I do not have all of the descendants of the early ones in the 1700s. If Bernhard has a grandparent or great Grandparent with the name Johann Valentine or Valentine, it might be the same line.
