Hi... In response to your question, I assume that Espenship is an anglicized version of Espenshied. My mother was Rebecca Boyer Espenship, and had a documented genealogy chart. Her original ancestor who came from Germany was Jacob Espenshied (arrived Philadelphia Nov 5, 1764 on the ship "Prince of Wales"). His sons, however, show the surname of Espenship (Johann Jacob, born 1776, and Henry, born 1779). I hope this helps.
