Thank you for your response to my question about Washington State Esslingers. Here is the basic information I have about my fathers lineage. My father was Theodore R. Esslinger (born 23 Jan.. 1911 Edmonton, Alberta, died 30 Sept. 1968 Spokane, Wash.); his father was Christian Esslinger (born 7 July 1878 Beresina, Russia ['Bessarabia'], married to Christina Willging in 1903, died 9 Jan. 1952 Missoula, Mont.); his father was Michael Esslinger (born 19 Nov. 1855 Beresina, Russia, married to Wilhelmina Ulrich in 1877, died 12 Nov. 1919 Ruff, Wash.); his father was Karl Esslinger (born 'Germany', married Christina Grumps, died Beresina, dates unknown). Up until now, I have done almost no research on my genealogy -- the information above was all gleaned from various parents, aunts and uncles before they died. As you see, my family belongs to the "Germans from Russia" group. Some years ago I did do a little reading, and according to the records and dates given in Stumpp ("The Emigration from Germany to Russia in the years 1763 to 1862" publ. in 1978), I guessed that the father of Karl may have been Jakob Esslinger (born 1787, migrating to Beresina in 1816 from "Gultingen/Calw-Wurttemberg").
Thanks for any help/information you can provide.

Ted Esslinger
