If you do not his name in Estonia or his birth place more exactly it is not possible to find that out. There are some records of people who applied for a foreing passport also around 1900, but as he was so young, he might have been a sailor or someone like that and just left Estonia without any official papers. There were about 170 congregations that registered births in 1885, so it is not possible to find his birth registration based on the date and first name only. The name Edmunds (with s in the end) refers more to a Latvian name. The name Edmuns does not appear in the Estonian onomastical database or our Estonian Biographical Index. Edmund is actually a first name, so maybe he had two given names Alfred and Edmund and he then used the latter ones as his new surname. Maybe the Canadian immigration records can give you more details. Good luck! Regards Fred Puss Estonian Biographical Center http://www.isik.ee Notify Administrator about this message?
