Searching for Undritz// Meerin family estonia/latvia(?)

I am having a hard time finding information--we think the family came from Tallin--my great-grandfather immigrated to New York City (Staten Island and opened a nursery---the story we are told is that he married a lady from Latvia(surname Meerin(mieren??), etc--so many times the language changes and language translations cause we researchers problems!!
We are told his father or relative may have been a pastor at ST. Nicolai church there but also there are possible ties to a duke or count???They were Lutheran.Thanks for any help!!
