"How do you know so much?" From searching for members of my Estonian mother's family using Saaga and its predecessor, the "Mormon" microfilms of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (known in genealogy circles as LDS). I've been doing that on and off for nine years now. And learning the Estonian language for seven years, but it's a real struggle.

There's no way you're going to get anyone else to read through the Church books for you unless you pay them. We all know its a struggle too, but you get more used to the handwriting as you go.

With a surname like Litvinenko, consider the possibility that your grandmother's birth actually was registered by an Orthodox congregation and she changed her allegiance when she was older.
