Searching for info on my grandfather, ALEXANDER WELTBACK, b. 7/18/1872 in Estonia; d.5/25/1961 in Michigan. He escaped to the USA in the early 1900's. He married Elizabeth Bartlett from Buncombe, N.C. It has been told that he changed his name when he came here, and that his family had all been murdered and he was fearful that he would be found. He was well educated, spoke many languages, and played musical instruments. Also, some times he talked about the Czar as a very close relative. I have even hired a P.I. and can't find a thing. The only Weltbacks that I find are my immediate cousins. Someone must know something.
