"Where is Viljandi in miles or kilometers from Reval."
I have looked at Webster's and it seems that that the name "Reval" is not in use in the English-speaking community. Everybody today says Tallinn which is the capital of Estonia.
The distance between Tallinn and Viljandi (german Fellin) is 161 km. (100 miles).
The Ventsels from my database probably originally came from Vastem;oisa (not exactly Viljandi). Vastem;oisa however, is a parish that doesn't exist anymore. A more exact location is Suure-Jaani (Gross St-Johannis) which is 10 miles north-west of Viljandi.
"Maybe they are mentioned in the chronicle which is in Estonian".

I think there is not much point in reading this before you are sure that my relatives and yours are related. When you are sure that your family is a branch of the Suure-Jaani Ventsels, I can help you finding their origins.
I can give you a hint:
Look at the Estonian phonebook, I have compiled all Ventsels at the end. You have to find somebody who speak Estonian and call all these numbers. Somebody will be friendly and help you. If you are sure that they all belong to the same family, I have a person that might help you further.

When people from the country made "career" and got some education, they used names that their superiours would use. (German and Russian nobility). The Ventsels from Suure-Jaani was mostly (or all) uneducated and poor.
