The revision lists that have been microfilmed are not all there exist. Some lists can be found in the archival funds of manors, congregation, commune governments etc. For some lists there exist 3 copies, for some none at all. Some even exist in Tallinn, in Estonian History Museum, but mostly they are held in Estonian Historical Archives.

Copies of census returns of 1897 exist in some commune government and city government archives, a book about Tartu census has been published a few years ago by Veiko Berendsen and Margus Maiste. I am not aware of the returns of 1881 census.
