James and Elizabeth Harbin Etchison of Lawrence County
My wife and I found James wife's name to be Elizabeth in a land transaction. This was in Shoals at the Martin County Recorder dated 31 May 1838.No one knew he had owned land there. This is the first time her name had been found.
A letter in Ancestry.com from Betty Harbin Garbers says that James was born about 1797 and Elizabeth Harbin was born 1800, and were married 1824.These two things tie in together and there was an Elizabeth buried in Port Williams Cemetery died 1845 and no one knew who she belonged to.A young girl named "Christenia" Atchason was buried in Port Williams the day the wagon train arrived.I feel she is James and Elizabeth's firstborn and was about five years old.None of the other Etchisons spelled the name with an "A".
