Julie, I was very happy to see your post about teh name Eve/Eva in Tonawanda, Erie County, NY. Until yesterday I had somehow or other missed the Eva family in the census of Erie County when I checked it many times during the past ten or more years. I know about Philip Eva and his wife, Eva Reeb and their two children born in Oermingen, Bas-Rhin, France (Alsace-Lorraine region). Philip Eva and Eva Reeb were both born in Vollerdingen, Bas-Rhin, France. I have some very good records of the earlier church records of that region where the Eva name is found spelled EVA and EPHA. Yesterday, finding Philip and wife Eva EVA in Tonawanda, 1850 & 1860 census, I was surprized to see that Philip's father also named Philip was in the same census at age 70 in 1850. Until I read your post I was not aware of Henry Eva.. but if he was related to Philip Eva then I do know exactly where to look for his records in France. Please contact me at jvreeb@pacbell.net
