Looking for help
Thank you for your answer. I have seen the Phau name and variations during my search in the US for my family. As you have found out in your research, there are many variations of the early Efaw name also. My stone wall seems to be in 1765, give or take a few years. I have my ancestor David Efaw/Efaugh joining the Revolutionary Army in 1783 at age 18 years. And saying he was born in PA. Which would be abt 1765. But can find no siblings or parents for him at that time. There is the possibility of our name being spelled EVA but can make no connection at that time. From 1783 till present I am in pretty good shape for info. But it is David's family and the old country I am trying to find. When David got out of the Army I picked him up in Hardy County in 1787 with the name Easau. Using that possible spelling I found a similiar name in Russia but the date was in early 1800's if memory serves me.
I think I have seen a deed for a ? Phau in the digital listings of VA. Can't recall the first name right off.
Do you know or have seen any info on EVA from Germany to PA about the mid 1700's.
