Mrs. Glenda Rhoden Oliver Evans, age 82 of Dallas, Texas (formerly of Pisgah, Alabama), passed away Thursday, August 21, 2008 in El Paso, Texas. She was born December 14, 1925 in Pisgah, Alabama to the late John B. and Gertrude Rhoden. Her service was Monday, August 25, 2008 at 2 p.m. in The Friendship Baptist Church in Pisgah with interment in the adjoining cemetery. The Rev. Melvin Slatton officiated and the Eulogy was by Jackson Oliver.
Her survivors include: sons, Jackson B. Oliver, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Mark V. Oliver, of Dallas, Texas; brothers, Charles D. Rhoden, of East Ridge, Tennessee, John Harold Rhoden, of Aiken, S.C., Leon Rhoden, of Ackworth, Ga.; sister, Shirley Gschwind, of El Paso, Texas; also, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother, Max Roden, of East Ridge, Tenn.; sisters, Inez Young, of Marietta, Ga. and Christine Robertson, of Ooltewah, Tenn. Mrs. Evans was a member of Owen Wood Methodist Church and worked for 27 years in Naples, Fla. at Kelly's Restaurant.
