David and Sophia Eveland 1825

I am descended fom a David Eveland (Ephlin) b. ca. 1803. After years of searching I remain unable to identify his father, and have found records of genealogists unsucessful research as early as the 1930's. David and his family 1st appear in the 1830 census in Catawissa, Columbia Co. PA. In the 1840 census and thereafter he occurs near Shamokin in coal Twp, Northumberland Co. PA (about 15 miles from Catawissa). In two censuses, David lists NJ as his birthplace, however, he lists PA in one later census. Around 1825 he married Sophia Rote (Roth) b. 1807. It is possible that she was the daughter of a George Roth in Catawissa who had two daughters b. 1800-1810. Sophia occurs unmarried in an 1824 church record in Numidia, Locust Twp, Columbia Co., PA. David and Sophia had ten children: Daughter, Daniel, Elizabeth, Angeline, John, George, Mary, David Jr., Samuel, and Catherine. David died 22 Oct. 1875 in Coal Twp., Northumberland Co., PA It is believed that Sophia died somewhat later. Although many of David's children and grandchildren were buried in the Shamokin, Numidia, and Catawissa area, no cemetery record for David nor Sophia has been found. Can anyone help in identifying the parents of David or Sophia? John Eveland
