Hi John.

I can't help you identify any pictures but hope you may be able to help me.

I'm rather new to genealogy and have been unable to find out much about the Eveland line. My grandmother Florence Eveland Laubach's father was Alfred A. Eveland of Fishing Creek Township, Columbia County. His tombstone in the Zion Cemetery states that he was born in 1866 and died in 1930. However, the 1866 birth date does not correspond with any of the Census information that I have been able to find.

The information I have found so far is:
1900 Census – Fishing Creek Township
Census date: June 8, 1900
Alfred Eveland, Head of Household, age 43, birth month Nov, year 1858 (or 1856)
No wife listed. Forence, daughter, age 2 and Geraldine, daughter, age 8

1920 Census – Fishing Creek Township
Dwelling#133, Family #135:
Alfred A. Eveland, Head of Household, home owner, free of mortgage, age 62, able to read & write, born in Pennsylvania as were both mother & father; occupation lumberman, sawmill.
Wife Stella age 42, born in Pennsylvania as were both mother & father, able to read & write.
Daughter Florence, age 14, attends school, able to read & write.

Obituary – Feb 13. 1930, The Argus (photocopy not too clear. “- - “ denotes unreadable)

Alfred Eveland, a lifelong resident of Asbury, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ray Deitterick, of Orangeville R.D., at midnight Saturday, death being due to a complication of diseases. He had been ill six months but was confined to his bed only a week.
Alfred Eveland was age 73* years and ---wed farming until a few years ago when he retired. Surviving are five children, Mrs Ray Dietterick, of Orangeville, R.D.; Mrs Gwynn Laubach of Huntington Mills; Alva of Orangeville, R.D.; and Lawrence and ----ine of Cleveland, Ohio. A brother ---- D. Eveland, of Orangeville, also lives.
Funeral services were held at the Deitterick home at 10:30 o'clock, Wednesday afternoonand were continued at the Asbury Methodist church with burial in the Zion cemetery.
* could be 73 or 78

I have not been able to find him in any other census and don't know the name of his first wife (mother of my grandmother)

I would appreciate any information that you might have.

Thank you -
