Linda,

I have been told by one of John Mordan's descendants (Gary Silter) that he believes Mary Eveland (wife of John Mordan) to be the daughter of Peter Eveland (b. 1752) from Mansfield Twp, NJ who moved to Columbia Co. PA around 1780. John Mordan was thought to have followed Peter to Columbia Co. a few years later. I don't believe he know if Mary married John Mordan before or after leaving NJ.

Peter Eveland resided just north of Bloomsburg near Millville in Mount Pleasant and/or Greenwood Twps. John Mordan settled in the same area and started a mill. Today,

there exists the town of Mordansville in that area.

For additional information contact Gary Sitler at the Columbia Co. Historical Society in Bloomsburg (570)-784-1600.

Regards,

John Eveland
