John, I have traced my ancestors to DAVID (b. 1805)& SOPHIA (b. 1808) EVELAND. The 1870 census shows DAVID to be a coal miner, living in Pennsylvania. They had at least 3 children, DAVID, EARL and a daughter.
Their son, my Great Grandfather, DAVID EVELAND (1844-1928) lived in Shamokin, Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, was a coal miner, served in the Grand Army of the Republic in 1861.About 1865 DAVID married CHRYSTIANNA RUPP (1842-1913). They had 4 children, including JOHN EDWARD EVELAND (1873-1966), my Grandfather. The entire family moved to Greensboro, Caroline County, Maryland about 1881-2.
Is this the same David and Sophia Eveland that you refer to in the 7/6/1999 e-mail?
