The WISCONSIN STATE GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY's 2007 GENE-A-RAMA will be held Friday and Saturday, APRIL 13 and 14, 2007, at the Olympia Resort & Conference Center in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.
Our featured speaker will be MEGAN SMOLENYAK SMOLENYAK. Megan is the author of “Honoring Our Ancestors: Inspiring Stories of the Quest for Our Roots,” “They Came to America: Finding Your Immigrant Ancestors,” and “Trace Your Roots with DNA: Using Genetic Tests to Explore Your Family Tree.” Recipient of International Society of Family History Writers and Editors awards in 2003, 2004 and 2005, Megan’s articles have appeared in Ancestry, Ancestry Daily News, Family Chronicle, Family Tree Magazine, Genealogical Computing, Heritage Quest, NGS NewsMagazine, Everton's Family History Magazine and APG Quarterly, and she sits on the Board of Directors of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG). Also on the program is WSGS's own GEORGE FINDLEN, CG SM, speaking about becoming a certified genealogist. George is a retired college and university academic administrator. He is currently a Certified Genealogist specializing in the blended Acadian and French-Canadian families of Eastern Canada and New England. George has contributed to several publications in this area of research.
