In Reply to: RICHARD EVEREST & JANE COLE'S CHILDREN by Laurie Morton of 246

I've just been researching my Everest line which descends from Richard Everest's sister, Maria (Everest) Parrott. There seems to be a connection to Iowa! Here is what may be relevant to you. I have no other information on your Hannah, unfortunately.

Samuel Larkin Parrott, unpublished writeup of 1953:
Mr. {{Richard}} Everest and his wife Jane were both born on the same day, March 8th, 1798 and together with their family came to the Eastern coast of America about 1836. Mr. Everest supported his growing family by digging walls and basements in the suburbs of New York and in and around Jersey City, New Jersey. After some years the family moved westward, stopping for a short time in Ohio and Iowa and in 1847 completed the westward trip by crossing the plains in three covered wagons, each drawn by three yoke of oxen.

Hines - Illustrated History of Oregon...Lewis Pub, 1893: p.649, David Everest biography): {{David is son of Richard & Jane Everest.}}
In 1835, when David was eleven years of age, the family emigrated to the United States and settled in Newark, Ohio. From there they moved to Washington county, Iowa, where the father took up a farm and where they resided until 1847. ....
September 27, 1856, Mr. {{David}} Everest married Miss Irena Jones, a native of Iowa, and a daughter of William Jones. They crossed the plains in the same train with Mr. Everest, Miss Irena being then only seven years of age. Her father took his donation claim near that of Mr. Everest. He died in his eighty-first year, and his wife in her sixtieth.
