Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
I've been browsing the postings and am surprised at how many Everests there are all over the world that have descended from Kentish families. I see lots of people know birthplaces etc. and was wondering if anyone is interested about knowing about the places their ancestors lived, I've been going around places in Kent all my life, like Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Faversham, Sevenoaks, Battle and lots of smaller places. If it is in Kent chances are that I can give a good description, most places have changed little and retain their innate character. For the very, very keen with specific information (exact address or suchlike) in or around Maidstone I might be able to get digital photos. Also, a tip that doesn't seem to have come up, the Earl of Essex who led an unsuccessful coup against Elizabeth I was a Devereux, he was executed for treason and was the inspiration for Shakespeare's Hotspur in the Henry IV's. Also, the French Deveraux family motto translates "I pray for leisure to the gods", I have the latin somewhere and can dig it up if you are interested.
