Hello James
I don't know what nationality our "Evers" is. I do have a copy of a letter written by John with the "double ss" that looks like f's. I am aware that it is found in German language, but not to sure of Irish or English. Have you come across anything like that before? My William Evers was born about 1770 as listed by a previous & older Evers researcher but she didn't list place of birth. James & John listed PA as place of birth through out the Federal Censuses. I did find a Wm. Evers in 1803 paying property tax in Butler County, PA. Another family member thought that our Wm Evers fought in the 1812 War in New Orleans. She couldn't remember her source so I didn't document it.
Something of interest. I was searching for online obits for Evers. (Remember, my Evers settled in Southern Illinois in the 1850's.) I found a Mary Evers White obit listed. She was 92 yrs old at date of death (?11-17-2002), lived in Vienna, IL. The obit was listed in the Southern Illinoian (?) Newspaper.

Mary (Parks) Evers
