Amanda Evers in East St. Louis late 1800s-1930s+

My great grandmother, Amanda Evers, married my great grandfather, George Charles Hudspeth, in 1903 at Independent Evangelical Protestant Church in East St. Louis. Family tradition holds that she was born in Germany in 1879. Can anyone help me learn more about her or point me in some new directions for possible discovery?
