Hi Evetts Kin!
I just returned from the childhood home of my grandfather, Silas Evetts, in Dixon Springs TN, where i visited the graves of my great grandparents, Chesley and Dora Evetts. The dates on the stones are ;Chesley, 1854-1930 and Dora, 1875-1963. When I was a child I met Dora, who we called Mamie. She is said to have been a full-blooded Cherokee by the Evetts kin in Dixon Springs area.
In the graveyard we found a stone for " Infant son of C. B. and Dora Evetts 1887 ". This would make Dora 12 years old when she lost this child! Oh what a hard life it must have been for these people!
Chesley is a child of Moses Evetts, who apparently was married first to Dorey Who with 8 children and then to Berintha Emperson with approx, 10 children. Can anyone confirm two marriages or tell me why?
