Hi Sharon,
I was interested in your posts about Ewers and French. I am also descended from Benjamin French and Philinda (Ewer) French. Their oldest son Edward is my great grandfather. You wondered if there were any good genealogies
of the two families. There is a lot on the Ewers, but I
can find nothing about the ancestors of Benjamin French.
I do have quite a bit about their children and some interesting stuff about Benjamin. Philinda applied for the pension of her son Evi because she was not being supported by her husband, Benjamin. Evi died because of wounds and disease in the Civil War. The testimony of their family,
including Acelia reveals a lot about Benjamin....at least in later life. I know your post was a few months old, but I
wanted to respond anyway. Maybe there are things we can share about our families. Margaret
