Ruel Ewer, 1830 to 1862, Penn. / Wisc.

  of 183

Looking for origin of my great great grandfather, Ruel (or Reuel or Rewel) Ewer, who supposedly (no proof) was born in Pennsylvania in 1830. He married around 1851 in Cassville, Wisconsin, to Ellen Wamsley, who bore him 4 children. He died in the Civil War in Helena, Ark in 1863. He may have had a relative named Almeda Ellen Ewers who was born in Fredericktown, Knox County, Ohio in 1844 and who migrated with her family to Missouri. Ruel's widow apparently was in contact with Almeda Ewers Jackson when she later moved with the children to Nebraska. Thus, his last name may have been Ewers rather than Ewer as my family has always believed. If any of the names, dates or places I have mentioned match up even somewhat with information you have, please respond with what information you have. A number of us have been on the trail of Reuel Ewer with little success. Thank you.
