Hi Cynthia,

I have so much to tell you. And the others that has
answered your posting on the Eyrauds. I know it has been a long time since you have posted the Eyrauds inquiry. But I hope you received this information. I all most don't know where to start. Here it goes.

My gg grandfather his name was Camille Giraud sometimes spelled Girard. He married my gg grandmother Nellie Edwards. They lived in Plumas County California along the feather river. Camille and his father and brothers were miners. And owned a couple of mines. Camille was born in 1856 in france. He had a couple of brothers John Frank Jr born 1852 and Laurent. I am not sure when Laurent when was born?. They were born in france but I don't where. It is funny how last names change but still be the same family. I don't know if is interpretation? Or what.

My husband and I took a vacation up there around Qunicy. We ran across and cemetery up on Indian Hill. I didn't think any thing of it. But when I got there. I was totally sursprise. There names were simular but not the same as Girauds and Eyrauds. I check with the Plumas County Library just make sure. And it was the same family. In the 1900 census the census taker spelled their last Eyrauds and not Girauds. I know this is true because grandfather Camille Giraud lived next store to John Frank Eyraud. But what was weird was Camille last name was spelled Eyruad. Go figure that one out. I wanted to know for sure. So I went the library they gave me a family tree that outline them. The first names were the same. Also they lived in the same area. Getting back to your question. There was a John (Jean)in french. John Frank Eyraud Jr. he came to US 1878. Laurent I am not sure The parents of they boys were John Frank Sr.Eyraud and Victoria Laizer. You know Bakerfield and Quincy is not that far from one other. I have a family tree. If you are interested?. I hope I didn't confuse anyone. I thought it was a neat story.

I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks Sher McDonald
