In reply to:
Faber family, Grand Rapids Mich. from Groningen, NL
Bert Roes 11/21/04
Albert, Pauline Hammond sent the following information; my reply to her follows.
"Are you sure they immigrated together or could he have been married twice? This is the only Fred/Frederic Faber that shows up in Kent Co., MI in any year.
1930 Grand Rapids, Kent Co, Mi, District 71, page 147A
Fred Faber, 58, age 29 when first married,
He and both parents born Netherlands, immigrated 1913, naturalized, janitor, private family.
Jennie, wife, 58, 27 when first married, she and both parents born Netherlands, immigrated 1903, naturalized.
Henry, stepson, 25, single, born Michigan, janitor.
Janet, stepdau, 23, single, born Michigan, teacher
Albert Stureman, father-in-law, 82, widowed, he and both parents born Netherlands, immigrated 1906, alien."
Pauline Hammond
my reply--
"Perhaps Trijntje died after immigration and Frederick remarried. If the father-in-law's name was Albert Stureman, Frederick must have remarried, as that name does not appear on the above certificate [see marriage on earlier posting]. Frederick was born about 1871, so would be about 59 in 1930. Also, Trijntje was 8 years younger, whereas Jenny was the same age as Frederick--a second marriage undoubtedly--and she immigrated in 1903. I think the information you have is the correct Frederick."
