This is utter horsemanure. Dickens' Fagin character does not at all dictate the meaning of the old Fagin name, it simply creates a contemporary associative meaning due to the nature of this character. There are numerous and many frivolous attempts to assign a probable original "meaning" to the name Fagin, and I am still in doubt as to the most likely accurate version/versions.

Please, Vanessa, research some more.
