Faheys from Gort, Ireland
Posted by: John Fahey (ID *****0656) Date: July 04, 2003 at 07:59:58
  of 924

Thomas Fahey was my Great Grandfather. He came to the states in the early 1850's. There is a land transaction dated August 28, 1856 for 40 acreas purchased in North Plains Twp., Ionia Co., Michigan for Thomas Fahey. He married Catherine Bolger Oct. 20, 1856, a daughter of John Bolger and Catherine Codd. Thomas & Catherine's marriage record is at St. Marys' Parish, Westphalia, Mi. Thomas died April 20, 1915 and Catherine died July 01, 1912, both in Hubbardston, Mi.

Mary Fahey married Timothy (Thady) Glynn in Ireland, a son of Luke Glynn & Margaret Niland. Their first child, Martin was born Nov. 08, 1859. Our information has Timothy arriving in the states in 1860 and his wife and son in 1861. Mary died Oct. 10, 1923 and Timothy died Dec. 14, 1908, both in Hubbardston, Mi. We have what appears to be a record of baptismal in Ireland for Martin, Nov. 09, 1859.

Bridget Fahey married Hugh Kelly, a son of James O'Kelly and Mary? both born in Ireland. Hugh Kelly shows up on the 1861 plat map for North Plains Twp. Hugh & Mary were married in the middle 1860's. Their marriage records can be found in Owosso, Mi. Hugh died July 02, 1872 in Hubbardston, Mi. Bridget married Mathew Marion Jan. 01, 1874. He was, also, born in Ireland. Bridget died Oct. 1926. Mathew Marion died Sept. 04, 1912 in Hubbardston.

Mary Fahey Glynn & son Mathew may have arrived on the ship Isaac Webb on May 18, 1861. It would appear that Michael Glynn, her brother in law, was with her. Bridget Fahey may have well have been on the same ship. Bridget is listed as a witness to Mary's oldest son's baptism on Nov. 09. 1859 in Ireland, as is Michael Glynn. Bridget is in North Plains Twp. as she is married to Hugh Kelly by 1865. There is an Ellen Fahy listed as a servant at the age of 2n on the same ship. All four names are grouped together on the ship manifest.
