I read your message with some interest. In the early
fifties my parents and I would vacation in Cockburnspath. We would stay with a lady whom I knew as "Miss Fairbairn". She lived in a cottage on the path leading to the cove. The cottage had very small rooms and as I remember, very steep stairs, at least they were steep for a small boy.
I never knew her first name but she may well have been the "Liza" that you mention in your message. At that time she would have been in her late sixties or early seventies. She had a lodger, a retired fisherman, whom I knew only as "Colin". I spent many happy days there and have never forgotten those kind people.
