Cynthia, Your post was a long time ago, but here's hoping. The FAIRBAIRN Surname DNA project has had an initial success with a 12/12 match between one of my lot, a descendant of Archibald FAIRBAIRN and Alison CROSSER, and a chap who has not as yet answered his email. I am hoping that he isn't the person I think he might be, shown on the SSDI as dying back in March 2007. Anyway, I've traced this latter chap back to a Thomas P FAIRBURN/FAIRBAIRN born Pennsylvania 31 Oct 1885 and Mabel E MINTUN/MINTURN/MONTON born CA 9 Apr 1888, mother WEBB. And Thomas' California dth index says his mother was a BATE. Sounds like your family to me. What else can you (or anyone else for that matter) tell me about where your Charles came from? IF I'm right about who the dna match is with, then we must be distantly related somewhere, somehow, and the emphasis is on the "distantly".
