Thank you for posting that so long ago.
I'm chasing around on the family of a Robert FAIRBAIRN, wife unknown, born abt 1786 shown in the Scots in Canada pre Confederation as
FAIRBAIRN: Robert b ca 1786. To ONT ca 1828; stld nr Selby, Lennox & Addington Co ch incl: William, James, Robert, Elizabeth, Jane, Alison qv OGF15,115 (where qv refers to Alison marrying David FITCHETT)
In 1851 the only FAIRBAIRNs in Richmond, Lennox & Addington are William & Catherine (MORGAN) FAIRBAIRN - the ones with son Archibald Goodson FAIRBAIRN
and Robert Snr and Jnr
FAIRBAIRN: Robt labourer 22; Robt gentleman 65; Esther 22 All b SCT; Robt 11 b USA; Archd b C West 9 All Presby; Prior entries children GRIEVE: Geo 5, Robt 3, Minto 2;
My conjecture is that the William who married Catherine MORGAN might be the son William referred too
Robert Jnr may or may not have married an Ann and had a son Peter and dtr Prudence, but there are two Roberts and Anns of an age I've not yet untangled, and ages can be a bit confusing, one born c 1816, another c 1828 unless I've read an age wrong somewhere.
There's a Napanee connection in all of this lot which ties very nicely to at least two of the children of my David FAIRBAIRN and Jane HERD
And with all the Archibalds and Roberts floating around in there, I have a good "feel" that eventually a link will be found to this lot
Anyone out there reseaching these families?
Any male FAIRBAIRN descendants around to join the dna project and (dis)prove this lovely theory?
